چکیده
With a newly developed turbidometric method, concana valin A was shown to agglutinate normal lymphocytes, lym phoma cells, and leukemic cells from chronic lymphocytic leukemia and from acute myelocytic and lymphocytic leuke mia. However, there was a marked difference in the kinetics of this agglutination process. Leukemic blast cells and cells from a patient with convoluted lymphoma agglutinated poorly in this system. Conversely, the degree of agglutina tion for chronic lymphocytic leukemia cells was greater than that for the blast cells and also slightly greater than that for normal lymphocytes. Cultured cells from a Burkitt's lymphoma (Raji) and from a patient with poorly differen tiated lymphoma agglutinated very rapidly with concana valin A. Prior incubation of all cell types with neuraminidase markedly enhanced the agglutination process similar to that of trypsinization. Thus, these studies illustrate the useful nessof this method in quantitating the kinetics of agglutina tion of various human neoplastic cell types by concanavalin A.

Analysis of HLA-G Gene Expression in B-Lymphocytes from Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Patients
The human leukocyte antigen G (HLA-G) molecule exhibits limited tissue distribution, low polymorphism and alternative splicings that generate seven HLA-G isoforms. HLA-G exerts multiple immunoregulatory functions. Recent studies indicate an ectopic up-regulation in tumor cells that may favor their escape from anti-tumor immune responses. This study it is an effort to clarify the presence of HLA...

Ribosomes were isolated and ribosomal RNA (rRNA) was prepared from leukemic cells derived from the venous blood of patients with acute myeloblastic leukemia, acute undifferentiated leukemia, subacute myelocytic leukemia, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, leukemic lymphosarcoma, leukemic reticuloendotheliosis, a cultured Burkitt lymphoma cell line, and phytohemagglutinin-stimulated normal lymphocyte...
متن کاملCD4+ T Cells are Exhausted and Show Functional Defects in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia
Background: Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is the most common adult leukemia in the western world. This health problem is caused due to the accumulation of mature B-lymphocytes in the peripheral blood and bone marrow. In the course of cancer, CD4+ T cells become “exhausted” and characterized with poor effector functions and the expression of multiple inhibitory receptors. Objective: To inve...

متن کاملImmunophenotypic Characterization of the Leukemic B-cells from Iranian Patients with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia: Association between CD38 Expression and Disease Progression
Background: Patients with B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B-CLL) have hetero-geneous clinical courses, thus several biological parameters need to be added to the cur-rent clinical staging systems to predict disease outcome. Recent immunophenotypic stud-ies performed mainly in Western populations have demonstrated the prognostic value of CD38 and ZAP-70 expression in B-CLL. Objectives: To i...
